One of the main reasons that customers buy trackers are to make use of GeoFences. This is so you can be alerted when the user leaves an area in which they are safe. Here are some handy tips for setting up your own and how to get them to work best.
Instruction Video
- Open the AIBEILE app
- Go to more>GeoFence
- It should automatically open the GeoFence editor at the location that the tracker is at. If it needs to be somewhere else, you can swipe on the map until you find the best location.
- Make the radius 300m by tapping on the +.
- Tap on name and set the name of your GeoFence to something that describes the area, e.g home.
- Press save
What if I want to know when they enter a dangerous area?
If you’re concerned about the user going too close to a busy road/deep water. You can also use GeoFences as a ‘Danger Zone’, rather than a Safe Zone. If you name your GeoFence something that reminds you that the user shouldn’t be there e.g Danger, Do not enter etc. then you can place the GeoFence around the dangerous area.
If you’re going to use a ‘Danger Zone’, we’d recommend making it cover a large area around the dangerous place to give you plenty of notice that they’re heading towards it. This way once you hear of it, you can call the tracker or go and find the user.
More Tips & Tricks
- GeoFence notifications are only as timely as the tracking setting that you choose. We recommend keeping your tracker on tracking every minute.
The reason for this is that the GeoFence is not a physical area that the tracker can see, the tracker needs to get a location update outside the GeoFence so that the app knows it has left the GeoFence area.
If the tracker is getting updates every minute, it’ll be able to tell a lot sooner than if it is updating every 10 minutes, where you could be waiting up to 10 minutes for a notification. - Make sure your notifications are turned on in your phone settings.
- Make sure to turn any power saving modes off. These can stop your phone from connecting to the internet when it is locked. If you don’t have access to the internet, you may not receive notification.
